Hablamos con Andy Dörner vocalista de Caliban, sobre el proceso de concepción del nuevo larga duración 'Elements' que sale el 6 de abril con Century Media.

1.- ¿Qué pasa chicos?

No mucho, estamos esperando y ensayando para los próximos shows para promocionar nuestro nuevo álbum; )

2.- En unos días Caliban lanzará el nuevo álbum "Elements". ¿Cuál es tu sentimiento?

Estamos entusiasmados como siempre cuando lanzamos un nuevo álbum. Estamos muy contentos de cómo resultó 'Elements' y ahora tenemos curiosidad sobre las reacciones de las personas.

3.- Sobre el proceso de composición, ¿Cómo fue?

Como siempre, diría. Estuvimos en el estudio de agosto a diciembre haciendo toda la producción, incluida la mezcla y masterización. Siempre comenzamos con la música, construyendo un patrón, luego comenzamos a escribir / recolectar ideas para las letras y las líneas vocales... juntando todo y haciendo una melodía fina... lo bueno permanece, lo malo se va; )

4.- En cuanto a la producción de 'Elements', ¿hay alguna diferencia en comparación con el álbum anterior, 'Gravity'?

Realmente no. El equipo de productores era más grande, por lo que más personas están involucradas en 'Gravity'. Tuve un entrenador vocal por primera vez... fue muy interesante para mí ver lo que mi voz puede hacer...

5.- Has tenido colaboraciones con otros artistas en álbumes anteriores. En 'Elements', ¿aparece alguna colaboración?

Sí que esta vez tenemos unas cuantas...

6.- Caliban ha lanzado el single adelanto "Intoxicated" y creo que es una canción espectacular. ¿Cómo ha sido la respuesta del público?

Gracias! La respuesta de la gente y la prensa ha sido excelente por lo que sé...

10.- En la última vez en España, tocaste con Suicide Silence, To The Rats And Wolves y la banda española Brothers Till We Die. ¿Escuchas más bandas de metal en español?

Solo lo se Brothers Till We Die y Hamlet, lo siento... tengo que trabajar en eso ; )

11.- Hablando de conciertos, ¿tienes planes para la gira "Elements"? ¿Está España dentro de los planes?

Hasta el momento no hay fechas establecidas para una gira, pero habrá una por supuesto ... ¡¡y espero que España esté en ello !!!

1.- What´s up guys?

Not much, we're waiting and rehearsing for the upcoming shows to promote our new album ; )

2.- In few days, Caliban will throw the new album “Elements”. What is your feeling?

We're excited like always when we drop a new album. We are very happy how “Elements” turned out and now we're curious about the reactions of the people.

3.- About the composition process, How was it?

Like always I would say. We've been in the studio from August - December doing the whole production, including the mixing and mastering. We always start with the music, building some pattern, then we start writing/collecting ideas for the lyrics and vocal lines...putting everything together and make a fine tune...the good stuff stays, the bad stuff goes ; )

4.- Regarding the production of “Elements”, Is there any difference comparing with the past album, Gravity?

Not really. The producer team was bigger, so more people are involved then on “Gravity”. I had a vocal coach for the first time...that was very interesting for me to see what my voice can do...

5.- You have had collaborations with other artist in past albums.  In “Elements”, does any  collaboration appear?

Yes this time we have a couple...

6.- Caliban has released the advance single “Intoxicated” and I think that it´s an spectacular song. How has the response of the public been?

Gracias! The response of the people and the press have been great as far as I know...

7.- In Germany always has been very good metal. In this moment, who are the Caliban´s favourite bands in Germany?

I can't speak for the whole band, because we have a different kind of bands we like...but I really like Fjort, the latest Callejon album, Any Given Day to speak of the “Core-Genre”...

8.- I have followed Caliban from the beginning on 1997. If you look back, would you imagine where you are now?

Never! We never thought that something like this could be possible...

9.- In Spain, Caliban played in several times. What is your opinion about Spanish fans? Do you remember any special show?

I remember the last tour we did with “Suicide Silence”...that was a great show, cause we haven't been in Spain for quite a while...and the singer of “Brothers Till We Die” did a guest feature for “We Are The Many”, that was great!

10.- In the last time in Spain, you played with Suicide Silence, To The Rats And Wolves and the Spanish band Brothers Till We Die. Do you listen more Spanish metal bands?

I just know Brothers Till We Die and Hamlet”, sorry...have to work on that ; )

11.- Talking about concerts, Have you plans on “Elements” tour? Is Spain within the plans?

So far there are no settled dates for a tour, but there will be one of course...and I hope that Spain will be on it!!!
