"Seguimos siendo nosotros, los niños que crecimos en el mismo barrio"
La banda alemana de thrash metal Dust Bolt formará parte de la alineación de Wacken este año. De igual forma han estado muy activos con conciertos y giras. Made in Metal se acerca a la banda para comentar sus próximos movimientos con el vocalista y guitarrista Lenny Breuss.
MiM: Mirando hacia atrás y haciendo un poco de historia, ¿cómo recuerdas esos inicios? ¿Cómo surge la idea de crear una banda?
DB: Bueno, esa es la especialidad de Dust Bolt. En realidad, es una banda real. No es un grupo de músicos con fines lucrativos o jugadores de Instagram. No, una verdadera banda de rock and roll. Y cuanto más hacemos esto, cuanto más tiempo pasa desde el principio, más empezamos a darnos cuenta de esto. Hemos estado haciendo esto juntos durante más de la mitad de nuestras vidas. Y lo digo de niño. Ni siquiera he pasado de los 30 años. Y sí, algunas cosas cambiaron. Las cosas cambian. Todo el tiempo. Pero no esto. Seguimos siendo nosotros los niños que crecimos en el mismo barrio y de alguna manera encontramos juntos. Seguimos siendo nosotros contra el mundo. Nosotros contra los desafíos de la vida y del tiempo. Eso es hermoso. Eso es especial. Eso es algo que no se te ocurre en cinco minutos. Esa es una decisión, un compromiso desde hace más de quince años. Eso te hace algo. Y seguramente le hace algo especial a la música, ya las personas que la escuchan.
MiM: Has estado bastante activo este año tocando en diferentes festivales. ¿Cómo fue la experiencia?
DB: Ha sido genial. No éramos una de esas bandas que hacían conciertos en la sala de estar y transmisiones en vivo todo el tiempo durante el tiempo de Covid. Nos tomamos un tiempo de descanso. Explorar, aprender, ser creativo. Fui al estudio a producir el nuevo álbum yo solo. Así que ha sido genial salir de nuevo y patear traseros en escenarios en vivo, divertirme tocando música, viajar y conocer gente genial este año. Danos más de esto.
MiM: Este año formas parte del Wacken Open Air. ¿Cuáles son las expectativas que tienes?
DB: Nunca esperes nada. Solo hazlo. Empuje las cosas más allá de lo esperado. Ese es mi trabajo.
MiM: El último álbum de la banda, "Trapped in Chaos", se lanzó en 2019. ¿Cuándo podrán los fanáticos disfrutar del nuevo material de la banda?
DB: El primer sencillo sale el viernes 28 de julio. Eso es todo lo que estoy diciendo. Será mejor que te prepares.
MiM: Me gustaría saber si desde un principio ya tenían muy claro el sonido que tendría la banda.
DB: No, en absoluto. Esa sería una vida muy aburrida. Ni siquiera sé hacia dónde nos dirigimos o qué haremos mañana. La creatividad y el arte no es algo que uno pueda planear. viene a ti Sucede. Y solo tienes que estar listo y preparado para ello. Para dejar que suceda. Siempre quiero estar abierto a donde podríamos estar yendo.
MiM: Finalmente, quería que se sintieran libres de compartir algunas palabras con sus fans y nuestros lectores.
DB: Créanme cuando les digo, no hay nada que tenga más ganas que conocerlos a todos, pasar tiempo juntos, crear un poco de caos y algunos momentos intensos llenos de música. Dust Bolt está de vuelta. Más que nunca. Nos vemos en 2024 (último) y hasta entonces, echa un vistazo a nuestros lanzamientos individuales. Te van a volar la cabeza.
German thrash metal band Dust Bolt will be part of the Wacken lineup this year. In the same way they have been very active with concerts and tours. Made in Metal approaches the band to discuss their next moves with the vocalist and guitarrist Lenny Breuss.
MiM: Looking back and doing a bit of history, how do you remember those beginnings? How did the idea of creating a band come about?
DB: Well, you know that´s the specialty about Dust Bolt. It is actually a real band. Not a somehow put-together group of profit musicians or Instagram-players. No, a natural rock and roll band. And the longer we do this, the more time passes since the beginning, the more we start to realize this. We´ve been doing this together for more than half of our lives now. And I´m saying that as a kid. I´ve not even passed the age of 30. And yeah, some things changed. Things do change. All the time. But not this. It´s still us the kids who grew up in the same neighborhood and somehow found together. It´s still us against the world. Us against the challenges of life and time. That´s beautiful. That´s special. That´s something you can´t come up with in five minutes. That´s a decision, a commitment for more than fifteen years now. That does something to you. And it surely does something special to the music and people listening to it.
MiM: You have been quite active this year playing in different festivals. How was the experience?
DB: It´s been great. We weren´t one of those bands that did living room concerts and live streams all the time during the Covid time. We took a while off. We were exploring, learning, and getting creative. I went into the studio producing the new album by myself. So it´s been really great to get out there again and kick some ass on live stages, have fun playing music, travel & meet great people this year. Give us more of this.
MiM: This year you are part of the Wacken Open Air. What are the expectations you have?
DB: Never expect anything. Just go for it. Push things beyond what´s expected. That´s my job.
MiM: The band's latest album "Trapped in Chaos" was released in 2019. When will fans be able to enjoy new material from the band?
DB: The first single comes out on Friday, July 28th. That´s all I´m saying. You better get ready.
MiM: I would like to know if from the beginning they were already very clear about the sound that the band would have.
DB: No, not at all. That would be a very boring life. I don´t even know where we are heading to or what we gonna do tomorrow. Creativity and art is not something one can plan. It comes to you. It happens. And you just gotta be ready and prepared for it. To let it happen. I always wanna be open to where we might be going.
MiM: Finally, I wanted you to feel free to share a few words with your fans and our readers.
DB: Believe me when I say, there´s nothing I´m more looking forward to, than meeting all of you, spending time together, creating some chaos, and some intense moments filled with music.
