La banda alemana de Hard Rock Stonemiller INC. lanzará un nuevo álbum titulado 'Welcome to The Show' el 6 de octubre a través de Massacre Records. Made in Metal, charla con el guitarrista Oliver Fulhage para conocer sobre su nuevo disco.
MiM: 'Welcome to the Show' (Massacre Records, 2023) nos transporta al sonido hard rock de los 80 al nuevo milenio con un estilo propio e inconfundible. ¿Qué puedes contarme sobre este álbum?
SM: Hola Raúl, primero, ¡gracias por tu tiempo e interés! No queríamos reinventar la rueda; Queríamos escribir grandes canciones que, con suerte, perdurarían. Nos tomamos mucho tiempo con cada canción individual y las canciones están influenciadas por muchas influencias diferentes. El resultado es “Welcome to the Show”.
MiM: Este álbum cuenta con varios invitados especiales como músicos invitados como Gianbattista Jan Manenti (The Unity), Corvin Bahn de Crystal Breed y Mennana Ennaoui. ¿Cómo surgió la idea?
SM: Gianba es la voz de The Unity, una de mis bandas favoritas. He trabajado mucho con Michael Ehre en el pasado y me encanta la voz de Gianba. Lo mismo ocurre con Corvin, él siempre fue mi primer punto de contacto para proyectos en el pasado, por lo que inmediatamente quedó claro que tocaba todas las teclas y órganos de nuestro álbum. El contacto con Mennana se produjo por casualidad. Canta en la banda de un buen amigo. Un día, cuando me pidió que le ayudara con la filmación de un vídeo, conocí personalmente a Mennana. No sólo tiene una voz extraordinaria, sino que también es una persona encantadora.
MiM: Francis Soto es una de las voces más genuinas e interesantes del panorama internacional, lo que hace que la banda suene con sello propio. A veces me siento muy cercano a voces como la de Blackie Lawless. ¿Cómo lo ves?
SM: Hoy en día están saliendo al mercado muchos buenos álbumes. Pero muchas bandas carecen del espíritu o alma necesarios. Un ingrediente importante que marca la diferencia. Además de buenos ganchos, el canto también debe transmitir sentimientos y crear atmósfera y poner su propio sello en las canciones y en la banda. Eso es exactamente lo que Francis puede hacer.
MiM: ¿Podríamos definir el sonido de la banda o por el contrario son una banda inquieta a la que le gusta innovar y abrir nuevas propuestas? ¿Cuáles son las influencias más directas de la banda a la hora de componer material nuevo?
SM: Las influencias en la composición de canciones son siempre bastante inconscientes, pero siguen siendo muy grandes. No nos basamos en canciones existentes. Generalmente todo comienza con un riff, a veces con una melodía. Luego, la canción se escribe como piloto. (Incluyendo teclados, batería, bajo) Por último viene la voz de Francis. A veces la canción no se ajusta un poco, pero normalmente todo sigue igual. ¡Francis y yo nos llevamos muy bien cuando se trata de escribir canciones! En general nuestro sonido es muy de batería y voz.
MiM: ¿Cómo se da el proceso creativo en la banda a la hora de componer, estructurar y decidir qué canciones o composiciones formarán parte de un álbum? ¿Es un proceso colaborativo entre todos y recae en una o dos personas?
SM: En este álbum, en realidad ya había escrito todas las canciones y reorganicé algunas de ellas para acomodar la voz de Francis. Francis escribió todas las letras y compuso las líneas vocales. Sin embargo, definitivamente escribiremos el próximo álbum con varios compositores. Tilen e Ingmar son muy buenos compositores.
MiM: ¿Cómo ha sido la recepción del público en las presentaciones de la banda?
SM: Para ser honesto, aún no hemos tocado con esta banda. Se espera que esto suceda a principios del próximo año. Estamos muy emocionados de ver cómo reaccionan los fans en vivo.
MiM: ¿Qué planes tienes para promocionar este álbum?
SM: Además de nuestro trabajo diario en las redes sociales, diversas apariciones en radio, entrevistas, etc., la mejor promoción es tocar siempre en vivo. Actualmente estamos trabajando en una gira y algunos festivales para el próximo año.

SM: Hi Raul, first, thank you for your time and interest! We did not want to reinvent the wheel; we wanted to write great songs that would hopefully stick. We took a lot of time with each song and the songs are influenced by many different influences. The result is “Welcome to the show”.
MiM: This album features several special guests as guest musicians such as Gianbattista Jan Manenti (The Unity), Corvin Bahn of Crystal Breed, and Mennana Ennaoui. How did the idea come about?
SM: Gianba is the voice of The Unity, one of my absolute favorite bands. I have worked with Michael Ehre a lot in the past and I love Gianba's voice. It is similar to Corvin, he was always my first point of contact for projects in the past, so it was immediately clear that he played all the keys and organs on our album. The contact with Mennana came about by chance. She sings in a good friend's band. One day when he asked me to help with a video shoot, I met Mennana personally. Not only does she have an extraordinary voice, but she is also a very lovely person.
MiM: Francis Soto is one of the most genuine and interesting voices on the international scene, which makes the band sound with its stamp. Sometimes I feel very close to voices like Blackie Lawless. How do you see it?
SM: There are a lot of good albums coming onto the market these days. But many bands lack the necessary spirit or soul. An important ingredient that makes the difference. In addition to good hooks, the singing must also convey feelings create atmosphere, and put its stamp on the songs and the band. That's exactly what Francis can do.
MiM: Could we define the band's sound or, on the contrary, are they a restless band that likes to innovate and open new proposals? What are the band's most direct influences when composing new material?
SM: The influences in songwriting are always rather unconscious, but still very big. We don't base ourselves on existing songs. Everything usually starts with a riff, sometimes with a melody. The song is then written as a pilot. (Including keys, drums, and bass,) Lastly comes Francis' vocals. Sometimes the song isn't adjusted a bit, but usually, everything stays the same. Francis and I get along very well when it comes to songwriting! In general, our sound is very drums and vocals
MiM: How does the creative process take place in the band when it comes to composing, structuring, and deciding which songs or compositions will be part of an album? Is it a collaborative process between everyone and does it fall to one or two people?
SM: With this album, it was the case that I had already written all the songs and rearranged some of them to accommodate Francis' vocals. Francis wrote all the lyrics and composed the vocal lines. However, we will write the next album with several composers. Tilen and Ingmar are both very good songwriters
MiM: How has the public's reception been at the band's presentations?
SM: To be honest, we haven't played with this band yet. This is expected to happen at the beginning of next year. We are very excited to see how the fans react live.
MiM: What plans do you have to promote this album?
SM: In addition to our daily social media work, various radio appearances, interviews, etc., the best promotion is to always play live. We are currently working on a tour and some festivals for next year.
