The Three Tremors es una banda que desde sus inicios ha captado la atención de los amantes del Heavy Metal y de los medios de comunicación, no solo por las excelentes voces que integran la formación, sino también por la novedad de la idea, que cuenta con un segundo esfuerzo 'Guardian of the Void' tras un primer disco homónimo. Raúl Cardona habla con el enérgico Sean "The Hell Destroyer" Peck (Cage, Denner/Shermann, Death Dealer) para descubrir qué hay detrás de este proyecto.

MiM: Hola Sean. ¿Cómo surgió la idea?

TTT: Siempre lamenté que la idea original de The Three Tremors nunca se llevó a cabo y parecía que probablemente nunca sucedería. Entonces, decidí que haría la versión estadounidense y sabía que quería tener a Tim "Ripper" Owens con seguridad. Le pregunté y luego me encontré con Harry Conklin de Jag Panzer y le pregunté y después de que todos estuvieron de acuerdo, comencé a escribir música con los chicos de Cage.

MiM: 'Guardians of the Void' (BJF Media/ Steel Cartel, 2021) es un disco que fue concebido en plena cuarentena por la pandemia. ¿Cómo fue el proceso de producción y grabación?

TTT: Esta vez fue un poco más fácil porque ya habíamos hecho uno como unidad. Grabamos toda la música en San Diego. Previamente grababa una versión completa de la canción con mi voz. Luego, la enviaba y los otros dos cantantes también grababan una versión completa. Después de recuperar sus pistas, las volvíamos a reunir en San Diego y elegíamos las mejores partes vocales.

MiM: Al escuchar este álbum, nos damos cuenta del minucioso trabajo que se hizo con las voces. Tonos bien ubicados, el trabajo de colocar la voz de Tim "Ripper" Owens de tal manera que no ahogue a los demás fue increíble. ¿En qué estudio de grabación tuvo lugar? ¿Quién fue su productor?

TTT: Bueno, el guitarrista de Cage, David García, lo mezcló en el estudio de su casa e hizo un gran trabajo, ya que creo que suena fantástico. Dave realmente encontró su ritmo de mezcla y me encanta cómo salió. También grabamos la batería en San Diego, ya que el baterista de Cage / KK Priest, Sean Elg, tiene un estudio en su casa e hizo un trabajo excelente. 

MiM: “Guardians of the Void” es un disco rápido, agudo, pesado, melódico y dinámico. Todo lo que un fanático del Heavy Metal necesita para amar un álbum. ¿Quién escribió la letra y la música?

TTT: Dave escribió ocho canciones, Casey Trask escribió cuatro canciones; Escribí todas las letras y melodías. También decidí qué voces iban a dónde y las ensamblé. Fue mucho trabajo y toneladas de pistas para clasificar y todos los cantantes hicieron un trabajo increíble, por lo que fue difícil dejar algunas cosas en el piso de la sala de montaje, por así decirlo.

MiM: En este álbum siento influencias de bandas como Judas Priest, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate y KK's Priest en algunas canciones. ¿Qué me puedes decir al respecto?

TTT: Bueno, básicamente Cage fue la banda que escribió las canciones y seguro que esas son nuestras influencias. También nos gustan mucho las cosas thrash, así que aunque este álbum tenía más canciones de medio tiempo, nos aseguramos de que también hubiera algunas thrash. Siempre estoy buscando riffs rockeros y melodías vocales que sean poderosas y tengan gancho.

MiM: ¿Qué tan difícil ha sido para ti administrar el tiempo para que los conciertos no coincidan con los de las bandas en las que eres miembro?

TTT: Bueno, ahora que dos de los miembros están en KK’s Priest es difícil. Esa banda siempre iba a hacer cosas, por lo que estuvimos bloqueados mucho tiempo, pero cuando tuvimos una oportunidad saltamos sobre ella, sacamos el álbum e hicimos una gira realmente agradable por los Estados Unidos.

MiM: ¿Has tenido un concierto en lo que va del año? ¿Cuáles son los planes de gira y conciertos para promocionar este álbum? ¿Cuándo se podrán ver en España?

TTT: Todavía no, pero hay cosas en proceso. Veremos cómo se desarrolla. Sin embargo, el espectáculo en vivo es una locura. ¡No hay nada como eso en el heavy metal! 

MiM: Finalmente, quería que se sintieran libres de compartir algunas palabras con sus fans y nuestros lectores.

TTT: Bueno, solo se hicieron públicas cuatro canciones del álbum, por lo que no lo encontrarán en Spotify. ¡Así que ve a comprar el producto físico para que puedas escuchar todas las pistas en él!

The Three Tremors is a band that since its inception has captured the attention of lovers of Heavy Metal and the media, not only because of the excellent voices that make up the lineup but also because of the novelty of the idea, who has a second effort “Guardian of the Void”. For this reason, Raul Cardona talks to the energetic Sean "The Hell Destroyer" Peck (Cage, Denner/Shermann, Death Dealer) to discover what is behind this project.

MiM: Hello Sean. How did the idea come about?

TTT: I always lamented the thought that the original The Three Tremors idea never happened and looked like it probably never would. So, I decided I would do the American version of it and knew I wanted to get Tim “Ripper” Owens for sure. I asked him and then ran into Harry Conklin from Jag Panzer and asked him and after everyone agreed, I began writing music for it with the Cage guys.

MiM: “Guardians of the Void” (BJF Media/ Steel Cartel, 2021) is an album that was conceived in full quarantine due to the pandemic. How were the production and recording process?

TTT: It was a little easier this time because we had already done one as a unit. We recorded all the music in San Diego and I would record a full version of the song with my vocals. Then, I would send that out and the other two singers would record a full version as well. After we got their tracks back, we would re-assemble them back in San Diego and pick out the best vocal parts.

MiM: Listening to this album, we realize the meticulous work that was done with the voices. Well-placed tones, the job of placing Tim "Ripper" Owens' voice in such a way that it won't drown out the others was amazing. In which recording studio did it take place? Who was its producer?

TTT: Well, Cage guitarist David Garcia mixed it at his home studio and did a great job as it sounds fantastic I think. Dave really found his mixing groove and I love how it came out. We recorded the drums in San Diego too as Cage / KK’s Priest drummer Sean Elg has a studio at his house and he did a killer job.

MiM: “Guardians of the Void” is a fast, sharp, heavy, melodic, and dynamic album. Everything a Heavy Metal fan needs to love an album. Who wrote the lyrics and music?

TTT: Dave wrote eight songs, Casey Trask wrote four songs; I wrote all the lyrics and melodies. I also decided what vocals went where and assembled those. It was a lot of work and tons of tracks to sort through and all the singers did an insane job so it was hard to leave some stuff on the cutting room floor so to speak.

MiM: On this album, I feel influences from bands like Judas Priest, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, and KK’s Priest on some songs. What can you tell me about it?

TTT: Well, basically Cage wrote the songs and those are our influences for sure. We also like thrash stuff a lot, so even though this album had more mid-tempo songs, we made sure there were some thrashy ones too. I am always looking for rocking riffs and vocal melodies that are powerful and have hooks.

MiM: How difficult has it been for you to manage the time so that the concerts do not coincide with those of the bands in which you are a member?

TTT: Well, now that two of the members are in KK’s Priest it is difficult. That band was always going to do stuff, so we were blocked a lot of time, but when we got a window we jumped on it and put the album out and did a really nice tour of the US.

MiM: Have you had a concert so far this year? What are the tour and concert plans to promote this album? When can they be seen in Spain?

TTT: not yet but there is stuff in the works. We shall see how it develops. The show lives though is insane. There is nothing like it in heavy metal! 

MiM: Finally, I wanted you to feel free to share a few words with your fans and our readers?

TTT: Well, only four songs from the album were made public, so you will not find it on Spotify. So go buy the physical product so you can hear all the ripping tracks on it!
