"En Irán el metal no puedes hacerlo fácilmente, especialmente con una vocalista femenina"
Green Bronto Records está buscando buenas bandas en todo el mundo y Thy Dispraise es una banda interesante con músicos de Irán que luego se establecieron en Turquía y que tocan un groove metal con elementos étnicos. Hablamos con Abtin Zahed, fundador y líder de la banda.
MiM: Para los que lean esta entrevista puedan conocerlos a través de la lectura, me gustaría que me contaran ¿cómo surgió la idea de formar la banda?
TD: La banda fue formada en 2012 por Abtin Zahed, el objetivo de la banda desde el principio era crear música y hacer música en vivo, pero debido a problemas en nuestro país (Irán), no pudimos hacer shows públicos en vivo, y simplemente hacer música y hacer algunos pequeños shows privados desde el principio.
MiM: El sencillo “Ignited by Lies” (Epic Version) es una canción que tiene una energía tremenda y la inclusión de la voz femenina le da un sello único a la propuesta musical de la banda. Cuéntame, ¿cómo concebiste cuál sería el sonido que tendría la banda? ¿Cómo surgió la idea de incluir una voz femenina en la banda?
TD: Estamos muy contentos de que te guste “Ignites by Lies”. Alireza y yo estábamos en medio del álbum "Lost Era", decidimos agregar voces femeninas a nuestra música, así que Sheyda se unió a la banda. Y después de eso, conocimos a Mohammadreza y su gusto por la música cambió la banda así que como pueden ver, después del disco “Lost Era” nuestra música es más enérgica.
MiM: Escucho una fuerte influencia de bandas como Lamb of God en el sonido de la banda. ¿Cual es tu opinión acerca de esto? ¿Cuáles son vuestras principales influencias a la hora de componer nuevo material?
TD: Lamb of God siempre fue mi ídolo, son leyendas, y como ven tenemos un tributo a Lamb of God en el disco “Lost Era”, el nombre de la canción es “Wrong Core”. Pero ahora tenemos una nueva influencia que son una de las mejores bandas del mundo ahora, Bleed from Within.
MiM: Veo que en la formación de la banda no tienen baterista ni bajista. ¿Crees que es una dificultad para tocar en vivo? ¿En el futuro incluirán un bajista o un baterista o prefieren seguir así?
TD: La contratación de un baterista y bajista es una prioridad para los programas de la banda, pero debido a la falta de una persona adecuada, la prohibición de presentaciones en vivo durante la Pandemia de Coronavirus, así como la separación de los miembros de la banda para presentaciones en vivo, tomó tiempo. Actualmente, debido a la separación de los miembros del grupo y la imposibilidad de reunirlos, las prácticas son individuales. Esperamos reunirnos lo más rápido que podamos.
MiM: ¿Cómo has llevado la pandemia y el confinamiento en los últimos dos años?
TD: Durante la pandemia de Corona, nos enfocamos más en el álbum y la presentación de la banda y luego comenzamos a hacer una nueva pista individual que ahora se está lanzando.
MiM: ¿Cómo ves la escena del metal en Irán y Turquía? ¿Qué bandas me recomendarías para escuchar?
TD: Somos nuevos en Turquía y no conocemos bandas en Turquía en este momento, pero sobre Irán, desafortunadamente, la música metal no es lo que puedes hacer fácilmente en nuestra patria, especialmente cuando tienes una vocalista femenina y esta es la razón principal por la que decidimos dejar nuestra patria y seres queridos y deseamos que todos los miembros puedan estar juntos como el pasado. Tenemos algunas buenas bandas en Irán que están trabajando y por ser clandestinas; no hay posibilidad de que se conozcan.
MiM: Ha sido un enorme placer para Made in Metal España hablar con la banda de Metal Alternativo Thy Dispraise para Made in Metal. ¡Un fuerte abrazo desde Cuba y España!

Green Bronto Records is looking for good bands around the world and Thy Dispraise is an interesting band with musicians from Iran now settle down in Turkey and plays a ferocious groove metal. We talk to Abtin Zahed, founder and leader of the band.
MiM: For those who read this interview they can get to know you through reading, I would like you to tell me how the idea of forming the band came about?
TD: The band was formed in 2012 by Abtin Zahed, the goal of the band from the beginning was to create music and do live music but due to issues in our country (Iran) we couldn't do public live shows, and we just make music and do some small private shows early on.
MiM: The single “Ignited by Lies” (Epic Version) is a song that has tremendous energy and the inclusion of the female voice gives a unique stamp to the band's musical proposal. Tell me about how you conceived what was the sound that the band would have? How did the idea arise to include a female voice in the band?
TD: We are so glad to hear you like “Ignites by Lies”. I and Alireza were in the middle of the “Lost Era” album, we decided to add female vocals to our music so Sheyda joined the band. And after that, we met Mohammadreza and his taste in music changed the band so as you can see, after the “Lost Era” album our music is more energetic.
MiM: I hear a strong influence from bands like Lamb of God in the sound of the band. What is your opinion about it? What are your main influences when composing new material?
TD: Lamb of God was always my Idol, they are legends, and as you see we have a tribute to the Lamb of God in the “Lost Era” album, the song's name is “Wrong Core”. But now we have a new influence that they are one of the best bands in the world now, Bleed from Within.
MiM: I see that in the band's lineup, they don't have a drummer or a bass player. Do you think that is difficult to perform live? In the future will they include a bass player or drummer or do you prefer to stay that way?
TD: Hiring a drummer and bassist is a priority for the band's programs, but due to the lack of a suitable person, the ban on live performances during the Corona Pandemic, and the separation of the band members for live performances, took time. Currently, due to the separation of group members and the impossibility of bringing them together, the practices are individual. We hope we gather up as fast as we can.
MiM: How have you handled the pandemic and confinement in the last two years?
TD: During the Corona Pandemic, we focused more on the band's album and introduction and then started making some new single track that is now being released.
MiM: How do you see the metal scene in Iran and Turkey? What bands would you recommend me to listen to?
TD: We are new in Turkey and we don't know bands in Turkey right now but about Iran, unfortunately, metal music is not what you can easily do in our homeland especially when you have a female vocalist and this is the main reason we decided to leave our homeland and beloved ones and we wish all members can be together like the past. We have some good bands in Iran that are working and due to being underground; there is no chance for them to be known.
