La banda de Power Metal formada por músicos austriacos e italianos, Fallen Sanctuary lanzará el álbum “Terranova” el 24 de junio, bajo el prestigioso sello discográfico AFM Records. Made in Metal habla con Marco Pastorino, el guitarrista, para saber todo sobre esta banda y su lanzamiento.

MiM: Ha sido muy agradable escuchar este disco “Terranova” (AFM Records, 2022). Sonido limpio, excelentes pasajes melódicos, riffs de guitarra rápidos y pegadizos. La voz de Georg Neuhauser es espectacular. ¿Cuál es el concepto musical del álbum detrás del nombre “Terranova”?

FS: En 2020 decidimos crear una nueva banda con un sonido único, una especie de mezcla entre power metal y AOR/Rock. Nuestro álbum es un equilibrio perfecto del tipo de música que amamos, pistas de gran velocidad, coros grandes, tempo medio, riff de guitarra grandilocuente y nuestras voces.

MiM: La balada “I Can't Stay” es dulce, suave, con un sonido limpio de guitarra acústica. En este tema se escucha una segunda voz. ¿Qué me podrías decir de la formidable balada?

FS: ¡Gracias! “I Can't Stay” es uno de los primeros temas que escribimos para el álbum “Terranova”, una balada tan dulce. Sí, en este, nuestras voces se están arreglando perfectamente y realmente amamos este tipo de cosas, seguro que en el futuro haremos más cosas así.

MiM: En el álbum podemos escuchar sonido de sintetizadores y pianos eléctricos. ¿Quién estuvo a cargo?

FS: Escribí las pistas de piano y teclado, pero mi amigo Michele Guaitoli tocó estas pistas.

MiM: El sonido de dos guitarristas se escucha en el álbum. ¿En qué estudio de grabación se realizó la grabación de la guitarra?

FS: Grabé todas las guitarras y el bajo en Groove Factory Studio, en Udine, una vez más con Michele Guaitoli. Creo que Jan Vacik, el ingeniero de sonido del álbum, hizo un trabajo fantástico en la mezcla, especialmente en las pistas de guitarra.

MiM: ¿Fallen Sanctuary es una banda consolidada o un proyecto efímero donde los amigos se encuentran?

FS: Somos una banda real, por esta razón queremos tocar tanto como podamos durante los próximos meses y seguro que lanzaremos más álbumes en los próximos años.

MiM: ¿Cuáles son tus principales influencias a la hora de componer nuevo material?

FS: Depende de la canción, soy un gran fanático del power metal, pero también de la música pop, la banda sonora, el rock, etc. Mis mayores influencias hasta ahora son Tobias Sammet (con Avantasia y Edguy también), Nightwish, Luca Turilli, Helloween, Savatage, Malmsteen pero también Bryan Adams, Led Zeppelin.

MiM: ¿Tienen planes de gira o concierto para promocionar este álbum una vez que sea lanzado el 24 de junio?

FS: Sí, tocaremos cuatro shows juntos el lanzamiento de “Terranova” para celebrar el álbum; tocaremos en Austria y Alemania, luego anunciaremos más cosas para este año y también estamos trabajando en algo para 2023. Nuestro plan es tratar de llegar a más y más personas y mantener a la banda en la carretera tanto como podamos.

MiM: Finalmente, quería que se sintieran libres de compartir algunas palabras con sus fans y nuestros lectores.

FS: Gracias por su gran apoyo, ya recibimos toneladas de mensajes de España y realmente estamos ansiosos por verlos en el camino por primera vez con Fallen Sanctuary.

The Power Metal band with Austrian and Italian musicians, Fallen Sanctuary will release the album “Terranova” on June 24, under the prestigious record label AFM Records. Made in Metal talks with Marco Pastorino, the guitar player, to find out everything about this band and its release.

MiM: It has been very nice listening to this album “Terranova” (AFM Records, 2022). Clean sound, excellent melodic passages, fast and catchy guitar riffs. Georg Neuhauser's voice is spectacular. What is the musical concept of the album behind the name “Terranova”?

FS: Back on 2020 we decided to create a new band with a unique sound, a sort of mix between power metal and AOR / Rock stuff. Our album is a perfect balance of the kind of music we love, great speed tracks, big choirs, mid-tempo, bombastic guitar riffs, and our voices.

MiM: The ballad “I Can't Stay” is sweet, and smooth, with a clean acoustic guitar sound. In this theme, a second voice is heard. What could you tell me about a formidable ballad?

FS: Thank you! “I Can't Stay” is one of the first tracks we wrote for “Terranova” album, such a sweet ballad. Yes, in this one, our voices are fixed perfectly and we really love this kind of stuff, for sure in the future we will do more stuff like that

MiM: In the album, we can hear the sound of synthesizers and electric pianos. Who was in charge? 

FS: I wrote the piano and keys tracks but my friend Michele Guaitoli played these tracks.

MiM: The sound of two guitar players is heard on the album. In which recording studio did the recording of the guitar take place?

FS: I recorded all guitars and bass at Groove Factory Studio, in Udine, one more time with Michele Guaitoli. I think Jan Vacik, the sound engineer of the album, did a fantastic job on the mix, especially on the guitar tracks

MiM: Are Fallen Sanctuary a consolidated band or an ephemeral project where friends meet?

FS: We are a real band, for this reason, we want to play as much as we can during the next months and for sure we will release more albums in the next years.

MiM: What are your main influences when composing new material?

FS: Depends by the song, I’m a big fan of power metal for sure but also pop music, soundtrack, rock etc. My biggest influences so far are Tobias Sammet (with Avantasia and Edguy too), Nightwish, Luca Turilli, Helloween, Savatage, Malmsteen but also Bryan Adams, Led Zeppelin. 

MiM: Do you have tour or concert plans to promote this album once it is released on June 24?

FS: Yes, we will play four shows together with the release of “Terranova” to celebrate the album; we will play in Austria and Germany, then we will announce more stuff for this year and we are working on something for 2023 as well. Our plan is to try to reach more and more people and keep the band on the road as much as we can
