Leather Leone, la excelente vocalista de Chastain, lanzará su nuevo álbum en solitario titulado 'We Are The Chosen' el 25 de noviembre a través del prestigioso sello discográfico Steamhammer/SPV. Made in Metal habla con ella para saber todo sobre este disco.
MiM: ¡Hola Leather! ¿Cómo estás? Mi nombre es Raúl Cardona y es un privilegio hablar con usted.
LL: Hola Raúl. También es mi privilegio, gracias.
MiM: “We Are The Chosen” (Steamhammer/SPV, 2022) es un disco que tiene un sonido rápido y envolvente. ¡Puro Heavy Metal! Se siente como si el espíritu de Ronnie James Dio lo guiara. ¿Cómo fue el proceso de grabación y producción?
LL: Fue de suma importancia para mí crear este disco. Sabía que era hora de hacer o romper. Vinnie Tex y yo éramos muy conscientes de hacer música de Metal melódico. Cada nota y frase necesitaba ser digna.
MiM: En algunas canciones siento bien marcado un excelente trabajo orquestal. ¿Cuéntame sobre eso?
LL: Douglas Pinnella, un amigo de Vinnie hizo la orquestación. Entendió que yo quería una oscuridad discreta. Agregó una textura increíble a las canciones.
MiM: Leather, en este disco es muy destacable lo bien que eres como vocalista, demuestras que estás en excelentes condiciones. ¿Cómo logras mantener esa fuerza en tu voz a pesar de los años?
LL: Muchas gracias. Le di un descanso a mi voz por muchos años… Pero cuando vuelvo siempre es lo mismo… Cardio, Agua, Dormir y cantar una hora al día a bajo volumen. Esto ha funcionado para mí... Pero, sinceramente, no soy religiosa con respecto a nada de eso.
MiM: Mirando hacia atrás, ¿cómo calificarías tu trabajo durante todos estos años?
LL: Estoy bastante orgulloso de lo que he hecho... Pero tengo mucho más que decir y hacer... Es un capítulo completamente nuevo para mí en el Metal. Manténganse al tanto.
MiM: Leather tenemos algo en común y es el respeto y amor hacia el trabajo de uno de los más grandes vocalistas del heavy metal, Ronnie James Dio. ¿Qué álbumes te conmueven más del extenso trabajo de Dio? ¿Cuál crees que sería el legado de este grande a las nuevas generaciones de vocalistas de Heavy Metal?
LL: Todo lo que hizo Dio fue un aspecto increíble de la perfección en la música. Estoy abrumado con el poder y la agresión del Metal hoy. Me sorprende. Soy un gran fan de quien siga ondeando la bandera.
MiM: ¿Qué significó para Leather ser parte de Chastain? ¿Cómo recuerdas esa experiencia?
LL: Ser parte de Chastain me ha traído aquí. Durante el tiempo que estuve con él no supe el verdadero significado del alcance en Metal que teníamos. Ahora, años después, puedo ver el impacto y estoy verdaderamente bendecida y agradecida. Siempre fue mi mayor animador y su respeto todavía me lleva.
MiM: ¿Qué planes tienes para promocionar este álbum?
LL: Mientras hablamos, estoy en reuniones para emprender el camino y compartir esto con todos ustedes.

Leather Leone, Chastain's excellent vocalist, will release her new solo album entitled "We Are The Chosen" on November 25 through the prestigious Steamhammer/SPV record label. Made in Metal talks with her to find out everything about this album.
MiM: Hello Leather!! How are you? My name is Raul Cardona and it is a privilege to speak with you.
LL: Hey Raul. It is also my privilege, thanks
MiM: “We Are The Chosen” (Steamhammer/SPV, 2022) is an album that has a fast, enveloping sound. Pure Heavy Metal! It feels like the spirit of Ronnie James Dio guides him. How was the recording and production process?
LL: It was of extreme importance to me to create this record. I knew it was make or break time. Vinnie Tex and I were very conscientious of making melodic Metal music. Every note and phrase needed to be worthy.
MiM: In some songs I feel well marked an excellent orchestral work. Tell me about it?
LL: Douglas Pinnella, a friend of Vinnie’s did the orchestration. He understood that I wanted understated darkness. He added an amazing texture to the songs.
MiM: Leather, on this album it is very remarkable how well you are as a vocalist, you show that you are in excellent condition. How do you manage to maintain that strength in your voice despite the years?
LL: Thanks so much. I gave my voice a rest for many years… But when I came back it’s always the same…Cardio, Water, Sleep and singing an hour a day at low volume. This has worked for me…But honestly I am not religious about any of it.
MiM: Looking back, how would you rate your work over all these years?
LL: I am quite proud of what I have done…But I have so much more to say and do..Its a whole new chapter for me in Metal. Stay tuned.
MiM: Leather we have something in common and it is the respect and love towards the work of one of the greatest heavy metal vocalists Ronnie James Dio. What albums move you the most from Dio's extensive work? What do you think would be the legacy of this great to the new generations of Heavy Metal vocalists?
LL: Everything Dio did was an incredible aspect of perfection in music. I am overwhelmed with the power and aggression of Metal today. It blows my mind. I am a huge fan of whoever continues to wave the flag.
MiM: What did it mean for Leather to be part of Chastain? How do you remember that experience?
LL: Being part of Chastain has led me here. During the time with him I didn’t know the true meaning of the reach in Metal that we had. Now years later I can see the impact and I am truly blessed and grateful. He was always my biggest cheerleader and his respect carries me still.
MiM: What plans do you have to promote this Album?
LL: As we speak I am in meetings to get on the road and share this with all of you.
