La banda danesa de Power Metal Progresivo Pyramaze lanzará su nuevo álbum 'Bloodlines' el 23 de junio bajo el prestigioso sello AFM Records. Excelente oportunidad para Made in Metal de hablar con Jonah Weingarten, el teclista, para saber todo sobre este álbum y la historia de la banda.

MiM: Según algunos medios de comunicación, la banda "Pyramaze combina muchas marcas tradicionales de metal melódico/progresivo... y esa combinación de elementos tradicionales y arreglos contemporáneos hace de Pyramaze una de las bandas de metal más emocionantes. ¿Es así? ¿Cómo lo ves? ¿él?

Jonah: En realidad estaría de acuerdo con esa afirmación. Creo que a medida que progresamos y crecimos como banda, continuamos refinando nuestro sonido y haciéndolo distintivo de Pyramaze. Atribuiría esto a nuestra experiencia colectiva en la industria, influencias musicales únicas individuales y, francamente, nuestra edad.

MiM: 'Bloodlines' (AFM Records, 2023) tiene un sonido increíble!! ¡¡Espectacular!! Riffs de guitarra feroces y pegadizos y una base épica con arreglos orquestales excepcionales. ¿Cómo fue el proceso de grabación y producción? ¿Qué me puedes decir de este disco?

Jonah: ¡Muchas gracias y me alegro de que lo estés disfrutando! El proceso de grabación y producción fue bastante similar al de nuestros últimos álbumes. Algunas canciones están escritas por mí, lo que significa que los arreglos orquestales y los teclados se componen primero y luego Jacob y Morten agregan guitarras y batería, y las canciones escritas por Jacob están en el orden inverso. Creo que eso nos ayuda a lanzar discos consistentemente diversos con una calidad con la que todos estamos satisfechos. Este disco es una continuación del álbum "Epitaph" en mi mente, y está lleno de canciones pegadizas, guitarras poderosas, partes geniales de batería y enormes arreglos orquestales modernos al estilo de Hollywood.

MiM: El álbum fue producido por Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Evergrey, Pretty Maid entre otros) y, en palabras del sello discográfico, "se eleva a los más altos niveles de calidad". ¿Qué podrías decirme al respecto?

Jonah: "Bloodlines" tiene esa producción nítida y limpia de banda por la que somos conocidos, pero aún empuja los límites del género con su voz increíblemente pegadiza y su sensibilidad melódica. Cualquiera que ame nuestro catálogo más reciente y aprecie que aún mantengamos algunos elementos de nuestro sonido original debería disfrutar este disco. Tiene tantos cambios dinámicos y es un muy buen equilibrio de pesadez y belleza por así decirlo.

MiM: Terje Haroy tiene una de las voces más frescas, melódicas e interesantes del panorama internacional, lo que le da a la banda un sello único. ¿Es tan? ¿Cuál es el criterio de la banda? ¿El entrenamiento vocal de Terje es académico o empírico?

Jonah: Terje no tiene entrenamiento formal y solo tiene un don natural. Y estaría de acuerdo en que su voz es fresca y melódica. Para mí, suena como una especie de mezcla de Dio, David Coverdale y Chris Cornell. Siempre ofrece una actuación increíble en cada disco y es muy confiable en ese sentido. way.

MiM: En el tema "Alliance", tienes a Melissa Bonny (Ad Infinitum) como invitada en la voz. ¿Cómo surgió la idea?

Jonah: De hecho, fue mi idea preguntarle y me alegré mucho cuando accedió a prestarnos su increíble talento. La canción "Alliance" es muy personal para mí, así que quería que fuera muy especial y ella realmente me ayudó a llevarla al siguiente nivel. ¡Creo que su voz armoniza perfectamente con la de Terje y suena genial!

MiM: En este disco hay otros invitados contribuyendo como Tim Hansen. ¿Cómo fue la experiencia? ¿Quiénes son los otros invitados que están en este disco?

Jonah: Tim Hansen contribuyó con un solo asesino y algunas melodías de guitarra a la canción "The Midnight Sun" y salió genial. Esa canción tiene la mayor energía de cualquiera de las pistas del álbum en mi opinión. También pude hacer algunos solos de guitarra y teclado con Olof Mork de Amaranthe y Andrew Kingsley de Unleash The Archers en la canción "The Mystery". Esto también es muy especial y tengo un profundo respeto por todos estos increíbles guitarristas.

MiM: Excelente diseño de portada. ¿Quién estuvo a cargo del diseño del álbum?

Jonah: Al igual que con nuestro último álbum "Epitaph", el trabajo artístico esta vez estuvo a cargo de Remedy Art Design de Grecia. ¡Me alegra que te guste tanto como a mí! Esta vez me gusta mucho la combinación de colores y diría que esta es mi portada favorita de un album Pyramaze hasta la fecha.

MiM: ¿Qué planes tienes para promocionar este álbum?

Jonah: Bueno, acabamos de tocar en el Nordic Noise Festival el fin de semana pasado, lo cual fue muy divertido, pero actualmente no tenemos ninguna otra fecha reservada. Estamos buscando comenzar a tocar en más festivales.

Danish Progressive Power Metal band Pyramaze will release their new album 'Bloodlines' on June 23rd under the prestigious AFM Records label. Excellent opportunity for Made in Metal to talk to Jonah Weingarten, the keyboard player,to find out everything about this album and the history of the band.

MiM: According to some media outlets the band "Pyramaze combines many traditional brands of Melodic/Prog Metal…..and that combination of traditional elements and contemporary arrangements makes Pyramaze one of the most exciting Metal bands. Is that so? How do you see it?

Jonah: I would agree with that statement actually. I think as we have progressed and grown as a band we have continued to refine our sound and make it distinctive to Pyramaze. I would attribute this to our collective experience in the industry, individual unique musical influences, and quite frankly our age.

MiM: 'Bloodlines' (AFM Records, 2023) has an amazing sound!! Spectacular!! Fierce, catchy guitar riffs and an epic base with exceptional orchestral arrangements. How was the recording and production process? What can you tell me about this record?

Jonah: Thank you so much and I’m glad you are enjoying it! The recording and production process was actually quite similar to our last few albums. Some songs are written by me which means orchestral arrangements and keyboards are composed first and then Jacob and Morten add guitars and drums afterward,  and the songs written by Jacob are in the reverse order. I think that helps us to release consistently diverse records with a quality that we are all satisfied with. This record is a continuation of the “Epitaph” album in my mind and is full of catchy songs, powerful guitars, cool drum parts, and huge modern Hollywood-style orchestral arrangements.

MiM: The album was produced by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Evergrey, Pretty Maid among others) and, in the words of the record label, "rises to the highest levels of quality." What could you tell me about it?

Jonah: “Bloodlines” has that crisp band clean production that we are known for, but still pushes the boundaries of the genre with its insanely catchy vocals and melodic sensibility. Anyone that loves our more recent catalog and appreciates that we still maintain some elements of our original sound should enjoy this record. It has so many dynamic changes and is a really nice balance of heaviness and beauty as it were.

MiM: Terje Haroy has one of the freshest, most melodic, and most interesting voices on the international scene, giving the band a unique stamp. Is it so? What is the band criteria? Is Terje's vocal training academic or empirical?

Jonah: Terje has no formal training and just has a natural gift. And I would agree that his voice is fresh and melodic. To me, he sounds like some kind of mix of Dio, David Coverdale, and Chris Cornell. He always delivers a kick-ass performance on every record and is very dependable in that way.

 MiM: In the theme "Alliance", you have Melissa Bonny (Ad Infinitum) as a guest on the voice. How did the idea come about?

Jonah: It was actually my idea to ask her and I was so happy when she agreed to lend us her amazing talent. The song “Alliance” is very personal to me so I wanted it to be extra special and she really helped take it to that next level. I think her voice harmonizes with Terje’s seamlessly and it sounds so great!

MiM: On this record there are other guests contributing like Tim Hansen. How was the experience? Who are the other guests that are on this record?

Jonah: Tim Hansen contributed a killer solo and some guitar melodies to the song “The Midnight Sun” and it came out so great. That song has the most energy of any of the tracks on the album in my opinion. I also got to do some trade-off guitar and keyboard solos with Olof Mork from Amaranthe and Andrew Kingsley from Unleash The Archers on the song “The Mystery.” This is also very special and I have a deep respect for all of these incredible guitarists.

 MiM: Excellent cover design. Who was in charge of the album design?

Jonah: As with our last album “Epitaph,” the artwork this time was handled by Remedy Art Design out of Greece. I’m glad you like it as much as I do! I’m very fond of the color scheme this time around and I would say this is my favorite Pyramaze album cover to date.

MiM: What plans do you have to promote this Album?

Jonah: Well we just played the Nordic Noise Festival last weekend which was really fun, but we don’t currently have any other dates booked. We are looking to start playing more festivals.

MiM: Finally, I wanted you to feel free to share a few words with your fans and our readers.
