DB: El proceso de grabación fue realmente diferente al de todos los álbumes anteriores, por supuesto. Este nombre ya existe desde hace mucho tiempo, aunque todavía somos muy jóvenes y en aquel entonces estábamos acostumbrados a producir todo lo que sabes sobre la marcha. La gira me permitió tocar todo el tiempo, ir al estudio, concretarlo en cuatro semanas, salir del estudio y terminar. Al enfrentar los desafíos posteriores a la pandemia de 2020, todo cambió repentinamente, y esto llegó en un momento en el que la banda necesitaba un pequeño paso atrás para ver hacia dónde se dirigía. Así que imagina a estos cuatro niños pequeños, acostumbrados a hacer giras para dar espectáculos y estar atrapados en una especie de nada. Pero después de un tiempo siento que hay mucho que decir, hacer y crear para esta banda, Dust Bolt todavía y en el futuro. Por eso nos gusta aprovechar la energía de ese proceso (sin etiqueta, sin restricciones, sin presupuesto en ese momento) volviendo a nuestras verdaderas raíces, empezando de nuevo y haciéndolo todo nosotros mismos. Entonces “Sound & Fury” es como una mirada profunda al alma real de la banda sin límites creativos. Este es un álbum de rock and roll. Y estoy orgulloso de haberlo hecho todo nosotros solos.

 

 

DB: Bueno, soy un gran fanático del metal y un gran fanático de la música en general. Pero no me importa demasiado lo que otros hagan o lo que otros hicieron. Ese no es mi trabajo. Mi trabajo es ver lo que hay dentro de mí y aceptar la belleza de cualquier idea que haga que tu corazón lata más rápido. Nací a mediados de los noventa, ¿sabes? Sus álbumes quedaron hace mucho tiempo para mí. Me encantan y toco sus canciones, pero ya no es algo que pretendamos copiar a nadie. Este álbum estuvo mucho más influenciado por nuestros instintos que por Anthrax.   MiM: “Bluedeep” es una canción instrumental donde un instrumento de viento suena sobre el sonido del viento, y luego se escucha la introducción de “Disco Nnection”. ¿Cómo surgió la idea?

 

DB: ¿Quién sabe cómo surgen las ideas? A veces, simplemente estás en la zona y lo intentas. Tienes esta visión y no te detienes hasta que sientas que te acercas lo más posible a tu visión.

 

 

DB: Porque sentí que en este momento de la banda (y créanme, no era un momento fácil para la banda) nadie podía descubrir dónde tenía que ir el corazón y el núcleo de esto, excepto nosotros mismos. Así que asumí el papel de productor y produje el álbum (junto con mi amigo Ferdi Dankesreiter) por primera vez yo solo. Se sintió como un viaje del ego, nosotros y yo contra el mundo, ya sabes, jaja. No teníamos sello, ni dinero, ni agencia de contratación. Me alejé de las redes sociales. Entonces, ¿qué tienes que hacer? Soy un chico punk. Aprendí a hacer todo por mi cuenta si me preocupo lo suficiente. Entonces aprendí, aprendí y lo intenté. Porque no me importa nada más que la música.   MiM: ¿Cómo se da el proceso creativo en la banda a la hora de componer, estructurar y decidir qué canciones o composiciones formarán parte de un álbum?

 

DB: No se puede controlar la inspiración. Como no puedes controlar las emociones. El rock ´n roll es una forma de expresión muy emocional. Y cuento el metal en eso. Al menos, ¿cómo veo yo el metal? Gritar ante un micrófono es una forma de arte realmente intensa. Así que tengo que descubrir qué me hace gritar. Debo ir a ese lugar emocionalmente. Y a veces, ese lugar te acoge y no hay nada que puedas hacer más que lidiar con ello. Entonces es cuando esta intensa forma de música es mi herramienta. Para manejarlo. Compartirlo y ponerlo en historias o, puedes decir, canciones, que realmente coincidan con el núcleo de esos sentimientos. Regalar el control y dejar que la emoción te controle es la manera en que yo y esta banda abordamos las cosas. Si buscas algo predecible, puedes ir a Mcdonalds. Pero esta es nuestra cocina casera, sacada del corazón.

 

 

DB: Sí, quiero decir, Dust Bolt ha vuelto, cariño. Será mejor que te prepares, mundo. Comenzaremos en Alemania, iremos al Reino Unido, iremos a Austria, iremos a Bélgica y Francia, tocaremos en festivales en Eslovenia y Rumania. Estamos trabajando en una gira por Estados Unidos y después de las fechas de la gira europea. Esto es sólo el comienzo, amigos míos.   MiM: Finalmente, quería que te sintieras libre de compartir unas palabras con tus fans y nuestros lectores?

 

DB: El rock n roll nunca morirá. Sube los amplificadores. Sube el volumen de los parlantes. Vayamos por el verdadero negocio. Todo está dentro y sobre la música.

 

 

 

 

 

DB: The recording process was really different from all previous albums, of course. This man has been around for a long time already, even though we're still really young, and back then we were used to producing everything you know on the run. Touring allowed playing all the time, going to the studio, nailing it down in four weeks, leaving the studio, and being done. Facing the challenges after the pandemic hitting in 2020, everything changed suddenly, and this came at a time when the band needed a little step back to see where it's going. So imagine these four young kids being used to touring to play shows and being out there stuck in some kind of nothingness. But I feel after a while that there's so much that needs to be said, done, and created for this band, Dust Bolt still and in the future. So we like to take the energy from that process—having no label, having no restrictions, having no budget at that time—going back to our real roots, starting over again, and doing it all by ourselves. So "Sound & Fury" is like a profound look into the real soul of the band without any creative boundaries. This is a rocknroll album. And I'm proud that we did it all by ourselves.

 

 

DB: Well, I'm a big metal fan and a big music fan in general. But I don't care too much about what others do or what others did. That’s not my job. My job is, to see what is inside of me and accept the beauty of any idea that makes your heart beat faster. I was born in the mid-nineties, you know. Their albums were a long time ago for me. I do love and jam their songs, but it's not something we aim for to copy anybody anymore. This album was way more influenced by our gut feelings, than by Anthrax.  MiM: “Bluedeep” is an instrumental song where a wind instrument plays over the sound of the wind, and then the intro of “Disco Nnection” is heard. How did the idea come about?

 

DB: Who knows how ideas come about? Sometimes, you're just in the zone, and you go for it. You got this vision, and you don't stop until you feel like you come as close to your vision and you possibly can.

 

 

DB: Because I felt at this time of the band—and trust me, it wasn't an easy time for the band—no one could find out where the heart and core of this is gotta go, except for ourselves. So I stepped into that producer role and produced the album (together with my buddy Ferdi Dankesreiter) the first time by myself. It felt like an ego-trip, me and us against the world, you know, haha. We didn’t have a label, no money, and no booking agency. I stepped back from social media. So what have you got to do? I'm a punk kid. I learned to do everything by myself if I care enough. So I learned, I learned and I tried. Because I do not care for anything more than music.   MiM: How does the creative process happen in the band when it comes to composing, structuring, and deciding which songs or compositions will be part of an album?

 

DB: You can’t control inspiration. As you can't control emotion. Rock n roll is a highly emotional form of expression. And I count metal into that. At least, how do I see metal for me? Screaming into a microphone is a really intense form of art. So I gotta find out, what makes me scream. I gotta go to that place emotionally. And sometimes, that place takes you in, and there's nothing you can do about rather than deal with it. That is when this intense form of music is my tool. To handle it. To share it and put It into stories, or, you can say, songs, that really match the core of those feelings. Giving away control, and letting the emotion control you, is the way I and this band approach things. If you look for something predictable, you can go to Mcdonalds. But this is our homemade kitchen, straight from the heart.

 

 

DB: Yeah, I mean, Dust Bolt is back, baby. You better get ready, world. We gonna start off in Germany, go to the UK, go to Austria, go to Belgium & France, play Festivals in Slovenia & Romania. We are working on a US Tour & up following European Tour Dates.
