Nos encantan las tortillas españolas

Coincidiendo con el inicio de la gira de los franceses Cheap Wine por España, la banda nos responde esta urgente entrevista

MiM – El año pasado estuvieron de gira por Polonia, la República Checa, los países bálticos y Gran Bretaña, y ahora vuestra primera gira del 2016. ¿Cómo fueron recibidos durante la ultima gira? ¿Qué esperan de la gira española?
CW – recibimos una cálida acogida durante la gira del pasado año. La gente realmente nos aprecia. Esperemos que la gira española sea una locura.

MiM – Hay algo que no he comprendido. ¿Estuvieron en Alemania, Escandinavia y los Paises Bajos o estarán la próxima primavera?
CW – Estaremos allí la próxima primavera durante todo el mes de abril.

MiM – La banda dice que su música es importada directamente de los setenta. ¿Por qué escogieron este tipo de música a la hora de hacer la banda?
CW – Nosotros realmente no la escogimos. Es justamente la música que amamos desde que teníamos 13 años.

MiM - Tio, hemos escuchado el Ep de Mystic Crow y suena como si fuera Jimi Hendrix Experience o Ten Year After.
CW - (risas) bueno, es un ser comparado con tales bandas. También es divertido porque ahora mismo estoy escuchando Ten Years After .

MiM – Consideramos que a veces su sonido es similar al de Grand Funk Railroad en 1971 o 1972 pero teniendo en cuenta que GFR es una band americana tal vez vuestras influencias sean diferentes.
CW – No podemos negar que Grand Funk Railroad es una de nuestras influencias.  Pero tambien encontramos influencias de música que no es del todo rock.

MiM – Los españoles no sabemos casi nada de la escena francesa así que necesito preguntarles. ¿Hay algunas referencias francesas en vuestro estilo musical? ¿Hay alguna banda francesa de los setenta que ustedes sigan?
CW – Bueno, la única referencia francesa que conozco son los chicos de la pirámide cerebral y resulta que se mudaron a España (risas). Bandas francesas de los setenta, podría decirte: Les Variations , Ninno Ferrer , Serge Gainsbourg

MiM - ¿Qué tipo de equipamiento usan para crear este sonido? Estoy esperando verlos en directo con viejos amplificadores de válvulas y pedales de guitarra polvorientos restaurados de los años setenta.
CW – Tratamos de conseguir el equipo más Viejo que podemos, pero los equipos de los setenta son muy caros. Usamos la menor cantidad de efectos posibles. A la guitarra puedes encontrar los pedales clásicos: wah wah, octaver fuzz, reverberación y booster.  El bajo utiliza solo un compresor. El vocalista ha construido sus propios efectos. La mejor manera de ver todo esto es viniendo a nuestros bolos y verlo con tus propios ojos, (risas)

MiM – ¿Por qué han decidido etiquetarse como una banda de Heavy Epic Blues?
CW – ¡Porque suena bien!!!

MiM – ¿Cuándo terminen la gira española, que continuará?
CW – Una semana después que terminemos nos vamos a Inglaterra para hacer algunas fechas con nuestros amigos de Jouis. Entonces nos enfocaremos en la gira de abril y el festival Celebration Days (ayudamos a organizarlo)

MiM – Esperámos verlos en España. ¿Nos adelantas algo sobre esta gira?
CW – El 30 de enero será el cumpleaños de nuestro baterista, ¡vengan a celebrarlo con nosotros!

MiM – Muchas gracias, si hay algo más que quieran decir, este es el momento.
CW - Nos encantan las tortillas españolas!!!!! (lo dice en español)

ENGLISH VERSION

MiM - Last year you were touring to Poland, Czech Republic, the Baltics and UK, and now your first 2016 tour. How was the audience response during the last tour? What do you expect from the Spanish tour?
CW - We had a warm welcoming during the last year tour. People really appreciated our gigs. We expect the Spanish tour to be crazy!!!

MiM - There is something I didn´t understand. Were you to Germany, Scandinavia and Benelux, or you will be next spring?
CW - We will be there next spring for the whole month of april .

MiM - The band says its music is imported directly from the seventies. Why did you choose this kind of music as a band?
CW - We did not really choose it. It’s just the music we love since we were thirteen years old.

MiM - Man, we were listening Mystic Crow Ep at its sounds like Jimi Hendrix Experience or Ten Year After. What’s your opinion about it?
CW – Ahah, well  it is a honor to be compared as such  bands   It's also funny because right now I’m listening to Ten Years After .

MiM - By the way, Mystic Crow was recorded more than two years, no? We are waiting new songs so don´t be so lazy and go to the studio. Tell us, when will be the new recording?
CW - Yeah Mystic Crow is from 2013. The new one will be there in april !!!

MiM - We consider sometimes your sound is like the old Grand Funk Railroad in 1971 or 1972 but taking account GFR is an American band maybe your influences are different?
CW - We can't deny Grand Funk Railroad is one of our influences.  But we also find influences in very different kind of music than rock.

MiM - The Spanish are ignorant about the French scene that I need to ask. Are there some French references in your musical style? Is there a French band from the seventies that you follow?
CW - Well the only french reference I know are the guys from brain pyramid and they moved to Spain Ahah. 
French bands from the seventies I would say : Les Variations , Ninno Ferrer , Serge Gainsbourg

MiM - Why did you choose the label Heavy Epic Blues to define your music?
CW - Because it sounds good !!!

MiM - When you finish your Spanish tour, what comes next?
CW - A week after we will be back we go to England play few gigs with our friends Jouis . And then we will focus on the April tour and the celebration days festival (we are helping  organizing it)

MiM - We hope to see you here in Spain. Can you reveal something in advance for your Spanish fans?
CW - The 30th of January it's gonna be our drummer birthday, come celebrate!
