BB: Bueno, trabajamos constantemente en el material de las canciones y somos los tres principales compositores de la banda, Bergh/Olsson/Selleby. Recopilamos material de canciones e ideas entre las grabaciones de nuestros álbumes y cuando llega el momento de comenzar a preparar un nuevo álbum, tenemos muchas ideas para elegir, y luego seleccionamos las mejores 10-12 ideas de canciones que tenemos y luego comenzamos el trabajo. sobre la letra/concepto y los arreglos musicales, etc.

MiM: 'Tales From The North' (AFM Records, 2023) is an epic Power Metal album. Excellent sound, the work with the voices was exquisite, with catchy riffs and an overwhelming bass and drum base. What can you tell me about this record?
BB: Thanks so much! "Tales From The North" is our tenth studio album and I think the songs on the album are more fast-paced and closer to some of our earlier stuff like ’Moria’ and ’Nosferatu’, but have more complex arrangements. Compared to the predecessor “Creatures Of The Dark Realm” there are heavier guitars and some deeper-sounding keyboards. We have also incorporated some traditional Nordic folk music instruments to fit the concept of the album. It`s still pure power metal but we’re trying to take it to the next level.
MiM: How has the experience of self-producing this record been? Why the idea of self-production?
BB: We have always done it this way. We have a clear picture of how we want it to sound and do not need a producer at this point we believe. LOL.
MiM: Listening to the album I feel a connection between all the songs. "Tales From The North" is a concept album. What are the songs about, lyrically speaking?
BB: That is correct. The album is more or less a concept album about the Viking era. About the lives of our ancestors up here in the dark, cold, and unfriendly environments of the north. Different legends and myths intertwine during the course of the songs, leading up to the epic battle of 1066, which marks the end of the Viking era.
MiM: The orchestral arrangements are exceptional, making the themes grow to epic levels. According to AFM Records "best album to date". How do you see it?
BB: Thank you! Yes, I think it is, if not the best album we have done, but one of the best easily!
MiM: How does the creative process take place in the band when it comes to composing, structuring and deciding which songs or compositions will be part of an album? Is it a collaborative process between everyone or does it fall on one or two people?
BB: Well, we constantly work on song material and we are three main songwriters in the band, Bergh/Olsson/Selleby. We collect song material and ideas between our album recordings and when the time comes to start preparing for a new album we have lots of ideas to choose from, and we then pick out the best 10-12 song ideas we have and then start the work on the lyrics/concept and the musical arrangements and so on.
MiM: They are a band with several years of formation, with records and tours. Looking back, how would you rate the work of the band all these years?
BB: Yes, we have made ten studio albums and toured in 25-30 countries! So I am very happy with what we have accomplished so far!
MiM: What plans do you have to promote this Album?
BB: We just came off the European Tour we did in March so no dates are planned for a proper full-length tour for the new album, but we have some festival shows coming up after the release.
We just did Karmoygeddon in Norway and Sweden Rock Festival and will do a show at Rockharz Festival in Germany on the same day as the release (July 7!). It's going to be a great event and one big-ass release party for "Tales from the North"! We will have the album available for sale there in all different editions and we will do meet and greets, signings, etc. for the fans. Gonna be great. We will also do a big "release show" at Masters of Rock in the Czech Republic the week after Rockharz! But a proper tour is coming in one way or another! And we will also go on a shorter tour in Spain in the near future since we had to cancel the previous tour dates in Spain!
