DLM: La banda se fundó en 2015 con la visión de combinar psicodélico, misticismo, blues oscuro, country y espagueti western. De hecho, estas son las inspiraciones detrás de nuestro álbum debut “Lazy Sunny Day” (2017), cuyo acrónimo es LSD. Tomé el nombre de la banda del tema de apertura de Jimi Hendrix en su segundo álbum, "Axis: Bold as Love". Esa canción dice que no solo puedes creer lo que ves.

DLM: Este álbum explora los paisajes sonoros cinematográficos del Viejo Oeste, inspirándose en las icónicas bandas sonoras de la trilogía de Sergio Leone. En particular, las bandas sonoras del álbum incluyen el clásico Pat Garrett y Billy the Kid de Sam Peckinpah y el clásico Death Man de Jim Jarmusch, compuesto por Neil Young.

MiM: ¿Cómo es el proceso creativo a la hora de componer material nuevo?

DLM: Yo compongo todas las canciones y luego cada miembro de la banda contribuye con los arreglos y el sonido.

DLM: Nuestro organista, Luca Valdambrini, grabó “El Santo” utilizando un estudio móvil en el club de música Surfer Joe en Livorno, Italia. Cada número es una historia de redención y valentía llena de poetas, actores, activistas, nativos americanos y rebeldes, todos “santos” a su manera. ¿Es tan? ¿Qué me puedes decir al respecto?

DLM: Así es; Los poetas y los revolucionarios son santos para mí. De ahí el título del álbum. Las películas de espagueti western suelen tener un trasfondo social y político. Los personajes poderosos y despiadados arremeten contra los más débiles, mientras que los héroes defienden a los oprimidos y luchan contra la injusticia hasta el final.

MiM: ¿Cómo describirías un show en vivo de Dome La Muerte EXP?

DLM: Uhmm, ¡un viaje salvaje y romántico!

MiM: Normalmente, cuando sacas un disco, la banda se va de gira. ¿Qué planes tenéis para promocionar este disco?

DLM: El Santo Tour está programado para comenzar el 5 de octubre y continuará hasta finales de 2024. MiM: What were the beginnings of the band? How did the idea of ​​creating the band come about, and what is the concept behind the name of the band?

DLM: The band was founded in 2015 with the vision of combining psychedelic, mysticism, dark blues, country, and spaghetti western. These are indeed the inspirations behind our debut album “Lazy Sunny Day” (2017), whose acronym is LSD. I took the name of the band from Jimi Hendrix's opening track on his sophomore album, “Axis: Bold as Love.” That song says that you can't only believe what you see.

MiM: “El Santo” (Go Down Records, 2023) is an exceptional gift for lovers of great soundtracks in the spaghetti western style. What can you tell me about this record?

DLM: This album explores the cinematic soundscapes of the Old West, taking inspiration from the iconic soundtracks of Sergio Leone's trilogy. Particularly, the soundtracks for the album include Sam Peckinpah's classic Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid and Jim Jarmusch's classic Death Man, composed by Neil Young.

MiM: How is the creative process when composing new material?

DLM: I compose all the songs, and then each band member contributes to the arrangements and sound.

MiM: The production, mixing, and mastering work is impeccable. In which recording studio did the recording of the album take place?

DLM: Our organ player, Luca Valdambrini, recorded “El Santo” using a mobile studio at the Surfer Joe music club in Livorno, Italy. The tracks were then mixed and mastered by two young and talented sound engineers, Daniel Grego and Mirko Brigo, at Mal De Testa Studio in Padua. These smart guys did a fantastic job!

MiM: "El Santo" will be released seven years after the release of the band's debut album. Why this impasse? In all that time, what happened to the band?

DLM: I've been very busy with my 80s post-punk band reunion, Not Moving: we toured for four years and recorded three new albums. The pandemic lockdowns did the rest. That's why it took over a year to complete El Santo’s recordings, which is basically the same amount of time Pink Floyd would take. LOL!

MiM: It is a concept album with a social and political background. Each song is dedicated to revolutionary characters, heroes who fight against injustice and the establishment. Each issue is a story of redemption and courage filled with poets, actors, activists, Native Americans, and rebels, all “saints” in their own way. Is it so? What can you tell me about it?

DLM: That’s right; poets and revolutionaries are saints to me. Hence, the title of the album. Spaghetti Western movies often have a social and political background. The powerful and merciless characters lash out at the weakest, while the heroes stand up for the oppressed and fight against injustice until the very end.

MiM: How would you describe a live show of Dome La Muerte EXP?

DLM: Uhmm, a wild and romantic journey!

MiM: Normally when you put out a record, the band goes on tour. What plans do you have to promote this record?

DLM: El Santo Tour is scheduled to start on October 5 and will continue until the end of 2024. My label, Go Down Records, is running a great promotional campaign, and there are some exciting surprises planned that I can’t reveal just yet. My goal is to perform this record on as many stages as possible, including in Spain, I hope.
